Kenya Safari & Beach Combo – 20+ Years Experience

Kenya Safari and Beach Holiday
Watamu + Tsavo East – The Right Way

Settle first, relax on marine park beaches, then meet the red elephants. No rushing – the only guide that puts your peace first.

❌ The Big Mistake: Rushing Through Kenya

Most travellers arrive, immediately jump on a safari, then rush to the beach exhausted. By day three, they’re already tired, jet‑lagged, and miss the magic. We do the opposite. Our philosophy is simple: settle first, unwind, then adventure. You fly into Watamu, check into a beachfront resort, and spend the first few days relaxing, snorkelling at your own pace, and letting the Indian Ocean wash away your travel fatigue. Then, when you’re fully rested, you go on safari – alert, present, and ready to fall in love with Tsavo’s red elephants. That’s why our guests leave Kenya saying, “This was the most relaxing holiday of my life – and I saw lions.”

Why Watamu + Tsavo East Is the Ultimate Safari‑Beach Combo

🐠

Marine Activities First

Watamu Marine Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Snorkel from the shore, see turtles and parrotfish, take a glass‑bottom boat, or watch dolphins – all before your safari. No hurry, no crowds.

🐘

Red Elephants – Just 2.5 Hours Away

Tsavo East is the closest major park to Watamu. After relaxing on the beach for 3–4 days, you drive directly into the bush – no long flights, no wasted days. The red elephants are unforgettable.

🏖️

No Rush, No Regret

Our guests consistently say: “I’m so glad we did the beach first.” You avoid safari fatigue, you enjoy the marine life fully, and you approach the wild with fresh eyes.

🧳

Everything in One Region

No need to fly across the country. Watamu and Tsavo are in the same corner of Kenya – you can easily do a 10‑day trip without any internal flights (just a short road transfer). Lower cost, less stress.

Our Signature “Settle First” Itinerary (No Rush, Just Flow)

🌊 Days 1–4: Watamu – Pure Beach & Marine Relaxation

Arrive at Malindi Airport, private transfer to your beachfront resort (20 min). No activities booked for day one – just settle in, walk the beach, and swim. Day two: guided snorkeling at the marine park (shallow, safe). Day three: optional dhow sunset cruise on Mida Creek or dolphin watching. Day four: free time to explore Watamu village, eat local Swahili food, or simply do nothing. Our motto: you don’t need to do everything; you need to enjoy everything.

🐘 Days 5–7: Tsavo East – The Red Elephant Safari

After four days of beach bliss, you’re fully rested. Morning transfer to Tsavo East (2.5 hours by private 4x4). Check into a safari lodge overlooking a waterhole. Afternoon game drive – spot lions, zebras, and the famous red‑dust elephants. Full day game drive on day six, including a bush picnic. Morning game drive on day seven before returning to Watamu (or directly to Malindi Airport). This is safari the way it should be: rested, curious, and fully present.

🛫 Day 8–10: Extend Your Stay or Fly Home

Many guests add extra beach days after safari – we recommend it. Return to Watamu for 2–3 more nights of pure recovery and reflection. Or fly out from Malindi Airport directly to Nairobi or Zanzibar.

💡 What our guests love most: “The fact that we didn’t feel rushed. We actually slept in, ate breakfast slowly, and then decided what to do. We never once checked a watch. And the safari was amazing because we were so rested.” – Sarah, UK (travelled July 2025)

🤔 Why we focus on Watamu + Tsavo, not Masai Mara + beach

Many tour operators sell “Masai Mara + Diani” combos, but they involve two long flights and a lot of wasted transit time. Masai Mara is in the far southwest; Watamu is in the east. To do both, you lose nearly a full day of travel each way. With Watamu + Tsavo East, you stay in one region, avoid internal flights, and actually enjoy your holiday instead of rushing between airports. Tsavo East has the same Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino) plus the unique red elephants – all within easy reach of the beach. This is the smart, slow traveller’s choice.

Marine Activities in Watamu – The Best on the Kenyan Coast

🐠 Snorkeling at Watamu Marine Park

The coral gardens start just 100 metres from shore. No boat needed (though boat trips go further). Life jackets provided, shallow areas for kids. See angelfish, parrotfish, and green sea turtles. Cost: $25–$40 including gear and guide. Park entry $20 extra.

🐬 Dolphin Watching (90%+ sighting rate)

Morning boat trips to Kisite‑Mpunguti or Watamu channel. Bottlenose and spinner dolphins play near the boats – children love it. 2‑3 hours, life jackets for all. Cost: $40–$80 per person.

🌅 Mida Creek Sunset Dhow

Glide through mangrove forests, spot crabs and birds, then watch the sun set over the creek. Includes Swahili seafood dinner. Cost: $25–$50 per person.

🏊 Glass‑Bottom Boat (for non‑swimmers)

Perfect for toddlers or those who prefer to stay dry. See coral and fish through the boat floor. Combine with snorkelling stop. Cost: $30–$60.
